With over 20 years of experience in the commercial and hospitality areas, Elizabeth’s practice primarily involves acting in transactions that involve the sale and purchase of licensed businesses and/or freeholds, and the associated gaming and liquor law compliance issues. Her recent experience includes:

  • advising clients on applications for planning permits for licensed premises, and other uses, as well as working with councils, consultants and regulatory authorities to obtain the required approvals for clients.
  • managing numerous planning and liquor due diligences for licensed site, and regularly conducting planning and licensing matters at VCAT.
  • acting in transactions involving the sale and purchase of licensed businesses and/or freeholds, and the associated gaming and liquor law compliance issues.
  • assisting clients in disciplinary proceedings and compliance issues related to conducting a licensed business.
  • acting in numerous applications for gaming machines before the VCGLR and/or VCAT.
  • negotiating leases of commercial and retail properties and general commercial conveyancing.

Elizabeth’s broader commercial practice includes negotiating leases of commercial and retail properties and general commercial conveyancing. She has particular experience in the Retail Leases Act 2003 and the dispute procedures under that Act with the Small Business Commissioner and/or VCAT.

She has also developed an extensive practice in the planning jurisdiction and is regularly involved in all types of planning applications before VCAT, as well as advising clients on applications for planning permits, and conducting planning due diligence for acquisitions of businesses and freeholds.
